about ME

Jules van Dongen

Born in the Netherlands, I grew up watching darts and admiring world champions like Raymond van Barneveld. In a twist of fate, I lost my hospitality job during Covid and found I had the potential to become a dart player if I put in the work. Once I found my form, I gained confidence, set goals and started earning titles.

At the end of 2021, I clinched a spot at the Lakeside World Darts Federation (WDF) World Championships. In 2022, I attended the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Qualifying school and earned my tour card.

Two extremely successful years followed, earning a total of 16 titles. But in 2024, I started experiencing issues with my throwing hand. I wasn’t able to grip the dart. Trying to pinpoint the cause, I endured countless appointments with orthopedic surgeons, sports psychologists, neurologists, MRIs, X-rays, physical therapists, chiropractors and even acupuncturists. The ultimate diagnosis of task-specific dystonia, brought some relief to have a name for my issue. And then I felt it was my cause to be open with others who might be experiencing the similar challenges, to know they’re not alone.

I’m so determined to find my peak again that I’m now a leftie, or a wannabe southpaw. 2026 holds many hopes for me and if I can encourage anyone along the way, I’ve hit my target!
